The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 - 2001 and
were sold under the SL-Class model name before being replaced by
the R230 in 2001. The R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of
the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details
for the time. The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of
two door convertible sports cars featured a fully retractable
hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof; a first for the SL
class, although it had been available on the smaller SLK model
since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of
the SL55 (a highly tuned version of the SL500) with each engine
individually hand assembled and signed by the technician.

Presented in brilliant metallic silver paintwork with an
exclusive graphite leather interior, this AMG-powered SL 55 has
undoubtedly been cared for throughout its life. The folding
panoramic roof benefits from a Designo Anthracite alcantara lining
and the alloy wheels are the non-standard, factory 18 multi-spoke
items. Other factory specifications include Parktronic parking
system, a command and control display system, heated and ventilated
comfort seating, a heated windscreen washer system and push-start
button. These luxurious sporting tourers are noticeably increasing
in value and good examples are certainly worth investing in.
