The 996 is the internal designation for Porsche 911 model that
were manufactured and sold between 1998 and 2005. On its debut, the
996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model
since its 1963 introduction, namely the water-cooled engine
replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Progressively stringent
noise regulations, environmental concerns, a higher expectation for
refinement and a high-performance made the switch necessary. Other
changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked
windshield and a re-designed interior. The performance
characteristics remained superb with reliability at its core.

This two-owner from new 911/996 Turbo is offered in metallic black
with a grey leather interior and comes supplied with a
comprehensive Porsche service history; it is the kind of car we all
search the classifieds for. Originally owned by HH Shabib bin
Taimur al Said of the Sultan of Oman's royal family, it was
purchased by the vendor while working in Oman in 2007; the car was
imported and registered X167 JCL in the UK. Originally fully
serviced by the Porsche main dealer in Oman, it has been fully
serviced and cared for by Porsche Guildford since its arrival in
the UK in 2009. It has been serviced just one month ago and seen
annually; five Porsche health checks are all present within the
history file. With prices on the rise, this low ownership and
mileage example is sure to attract significant interest and viewing
is recommended.
