Ford introduced the Fastback version of the popular Mustang in August 1964. It traded conventional trunk space for increased interior volume and gave the car lines similar to the Corvette and some European sports cars. The car was received with praise as it introduced a racing disposition to the Mustang line and even served as the basis for Carroll Shelby to build his GT350s. This 1966 Ford Mustang is a beautiful and well executed example of a custom Resto Mod. The car underwent a complete custom rotisserie build by DCW Works in Lake Havasu City, Arizona and was completed in 2014. The car is drenched in Ford Pearl White paint with Ferrari Red racing stripes, the retro feel carrying through to the chromed American Racing Torque Thrust wheels. Exterior body work includes custom molded hood and side scoops, sequential tail lights and GT fuel cap. A custom Red TMI Mustang sport interior was installed and custom touches include a polished aluminum center console, Red shifter ball, Shelby wood steering wheel, Vintage Air conditioning and radio. A JD Machine-built 347/405 HP small block V-8 is tidily packaged away under the custom hood in a clean and simple engine compartment. The engine has been fitted with Shorty headers with 3 inch exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. A Tremec 5-speed manual transmission with floor mounted shifter transfers power to the rear tires through a Currie limited slip 9-inch rear end fitted with 3.73:1 gears. The car rides on a custom TCI Pro Touring suspension with independent front suspension and tubular A-arms, and 4-corner coilover shocks. Power options on the car include power steering and Wilwood 4-wheel power disc brakes. After completion of the restoration the car won Best in Class for Pro Touring at the Los Angeles Roadster Show in 2014.
