Take one exceptionally rare vintage Chevrolet Bel Air bubble top, add a plethora of high-grade modern mods and wrap it all in shimmering custom paint, and you have one very classy Resto Mod that delivers an unbeatable ride. This 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air covers all those points and more in a nut-and-bolt rotisserie build with fewer than 1,500 miles since completion. Starting from a complete disassembly, the Bel Air’s frame was stripped and powder coated for show-quality finish and maximum durability, then fitted with upgraded suspension comprising Air Ride, front and rear sway bars, rack-and-pinion steering and 4-wheel disc brakes. Fuel is held in a custom stainless-steel tank using a GM electric fuel pump to feed the C5 Corvette LS1 all-aluminum V-8 engine chosen to power the car. Fitted with ceramic-coated headers and exhaust, polished 200-amp alternator, power steering pump and air-conditioning compressor driven by a Street and Performance serpentine belt system, polished accessories and custom body-color rail covers, the LS1 is mated to a GM 4L60 4-speed automatic transmission for Corvette-grade performance. Removing the Bel Air body’s bright trim pieces emphasized the ‘62’s flowing lines, which radiate in glowing Candy Tangerine paint and contrasting black on the bubble top roof. The 17- and 20-inch Foose Legend powder chrome wheels with Pirelli tires, one-piece California bumpers and new smoked glass complete the custom exterior detailing. The interior benefits from the full custom treatment as well, offering passengers skillfully upholstered seating and trim, power windows and seats, German woven carpets, AM/FM sound with four speakers and iPod connectivity and a quartz clock. Thanks to full Dyna Mat insulation, the ride is quiet and comfortable, as befits this show-stopping street machine.
