Lot #635.1 - This Y84 Special Edition, WS6 Black and Gold, Smokey and the Bandit car has 60,000 original miles. It was frame-off restored by Restore a Muscle Car and signed by Burt Reynolds. This is the very last of the Pontiac-powered 4-speed muscle cars. The name Pontiac instantly conjures big cubic inch torque and 1979 marked the last year Pontiac produced a big 400ci-powered Trans AM. This also was the first year for 4-wheel disc brakes and for the MSPR to exceed $10,000. There are so many unique qualities in this amazing car. Restore a Muscle Car was contracted by a GM executive to locate and restore a rare low-production 1979 Trans AM and this is that very car. A clean car was procured and the extensive restoration was begun. A tenuous restoration, it literally consumed 2,700 man-hours. Many NOS parts were used throughout and when originals were not available, only the best aftermarket and GM-OER substitutes were used. Completed in time for the 2014 Bandit Run, this car was driven on that run. Since then, it has enjoyed a pampered life on the East Coast in a climate-controlled environment. This is a factory WS6 and W72 optioned car. It had a low production of only 1,107 produced with the Special Edition package and the Pontiac 400ci motor with 4-speed manual transmission. It's finished in amazing show-quality Restore a Muscle Car paint with Spies Hecker base/clear. During the nut-and-bolt restoration, the engine, transmission, clutch and brakes were restored and rebuilt to new specs. This fully loaded model has air conditioning. It also has PHS paperwork.
