MALLOCK MK16 HILL CLIMB / RACE CAR - Arthur Mallock started his remarkable association with motor sport after the Second World War and developed a unique approach to the fundamentals of car handling that enabled him to extract quite extraordinary performances from cars built from standard low cost components and materials. His simple front engine cars took on the giants like Lotus and Lola and often beat them. Arthur Mallock will be remembered by countless racing enthusiasts as the man who made motor racing accessible and affordable.

Arthur was also a successful racing driver and encouraged his sons, Richard and Ray to follow in his footsteps. Richard gave up regular racing to concentrate on the family business where, with his wife Sue and son Charles, he still produces the latest version of the famous Mallock U2. Ray enjoyed a highly successful professional driving career before starting his own motor racing business, RML (Ray Mallock Ltd) that now operates at the top end of the sport in events such as the European Le Mans Series and World Touring Car Championship.

In 1975 Mallock introduced the last generation of it’s short wheelbase highly successful Clubman formula cars, the MK16. Sales were probably as high as for any single model - up to around 20 cars. Seventeen MK16s are currently recorded at Mallock Racing.

This particular car, chassis number 4, was purchased from Guernsey where it had been successfully campaigned in hill climbs between 1994 and 1999. Brought back to the mainland in early 2000, it was still very useable albeit by now, a little scruffy. It's new 'Garagista' owner had much experience of sprints and hill climbs and decided to set upon a full ground up restoration which was to take 4 years and consume circa £30k in parts and labour.

Having completely stripped the car down to component form, the chassis was sent back to the Mallock factory to be jigged and brought back to within 'as new' tolerances. On its return, it was sandblasted and painted in 2k satin black. All suspension arms and components checked and re-chromed. Hubs and anti-roll bars re-plated, suspension re-hung using all new rose joints throughout. The steering rack was rebuilt and refitted. Shocks rebuilt, springs sandblasted and painted, steering column re-chromed and fitted. A new wiring loom was made and fitted with new brake and fuel lines. New internal alloy panels fabricated and fitted. A new dash and centre tunnel were made. Front hubs rebuilt with new bearings, new drilled and grooved front brake discs fitted. New Willwood front callipers, the Ford Rocket gearbox totally stripped, rebuilt, detailed and mated to a new 3 part sintered clutch.

The engine is an all steel 1700 X flow comprising of a 711 block, 12 bolt steel crank line bored block fitted with steel main caps. Dry sumped, high pressure oil pump, belt driven water pump, lightened steel rods and super light steel flywheel. Cosworth pistons, A9 Cam, CTM head (large valves, tapered bronze guides, ported and skimmed). Steel rocker shafts and adjustable Vernier timing gear. All rebuilt with A.R.P nuts and bolts. 2 x 45 Webers approx. 180 bhp.

New solid state battery was mounted in the rear of the car along with a new facet fuel pump.

The body work repaired, gel coated and painted. When the car was finished, it was again transported to the factory to have the suspension and geometry set up. An Omex rev. limiter with launch control was also fitted at the same time.

Clearly, EVERY component (without exception) has been rebuilt, refurbished or replaced using, at all the times, the best available materials, parts and practice.

Sadly, due to business commitments, it has never competed and remained in dry secure storage since completion. This is undoubtedly an outstanding opportunity for a novice or seasoned competitor to purchase a top notch and competitive MK16 for just a fraction of it's re-build cost and is undeniably, the best available anywhere. Please don't get this confused with the usual rubbish available for sale. Sensible offers considered, but only if you are prepared to open up a dialogue and preferably, if you take the trouble to come and have a look.

To summarise, this race car is on the button and ready to race. It is set up for hill climbs and sprints but is eligible for the classic clubman’s series.

Fully documented with photographic record of its rebuild, various invoices, RAC competition Log Book and a Brian James galvanised trailer.

Peerless - This stunning red beauty is from the Ed Brannon collection and comes powered with a 2.2 litre Triumph motor rebuilt 4300 miles ago, as well as a frame off restoration. Rare 42 MM Weber Carbs. Unmolested original car, second owner.

This example is equipped with the optional wire wheels, and left-hand drive steering wheel position. The body is made of one molded piece of lightweight fiberglass over a space frame chassis. A unique feature of this design is the twin fuel tanks located in each of the rocker panels, which aids both the weight distribution and lowers the center of gravity of the car. Also preserved are the tail-fins – which on some GT’s were shaved off by prior owners.

Triumph TR3 A - The TR3A is distinguished from its predecessors by its exterior styling which was revised to adopt a new nose panel with a wide-mouth, egg-crate grille, and the headlamps were slightly recessed for a smoother line. There were slight modifications made to the windscreen fixings and door and trunk hinges, and the door handles were standardized by 1959. In terms of performance, the biggest change was the introduction of Girling front disc brakes. This great example has has a recent rebuilt long block and receipts for over $10,000 in front end and refreshing work.

Maserati 3200GT - In 1998, having been acquired by the Fiat group, Maserati was reinvented and finances were finally poured into the once-great marque’s development as it sought a new identity within the group alongside Ferrari. With the 3200GT, Maserati was repositioned below the Scuderia, to take on cars such as the Jaguar XK and BMW 6-Series. The V8 engine was based on that found in the Ferrari 355 so it’s not surprising that it had stupendous performance of 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 174mph. Coupled with it’s luxurious and comfortable four seat configuration, the 3200GT was assured great success.

Most cars sold were automatic which makes this 6 speed manual a particularly rare car and definitely one for the genuine enthusiast. Obviously cherished since new it is in outstanding condition, inside and out. Full service history (predominantly with Meridan and latterly with independent specialists) and all MOT’s confirm it’s 61k miles. The all important cambelt service was carried out in November 2011. All books, spare keys, tools & jack are present.

Aston Martin Virage Volante - Motor Show Car - My car was first displayed at the London Motor Show in 1993 before being handed to the Aston Martin Engineering Department some months later for the development of the new V8 coupe engine. The V8 coupe engine is essentially a Vantage engine without superchargers and different pistons to lower the compression. A handful of Virage's were fitted with this engine in 1996 prior to the LWB variant.

In June 1997, my car was serviced by works service showing a mileage of 4,564. Having had a speedo change, it's first private owner bought the car with a recorded mileage of circa 3,599 miles (making a total of just over 8,000 miles) in January 1998. Despite having had two private owners since Aston Martin's ownership the car, pleasingly, still retains it's original factory AML registration. The recorded mileage today is 18.028 (total circa 22,600 miles) All MOT's and service history are on file along with documentation supporting it’s provenance.

The car is in wonderful original condition in keeping with it's very low mileage. Just a few miles have been covered since it's last MOT with an AM main dealer on the 31st October – no advisories, two new tyres and battery fitted at the same time.

Only 233 Virage Volante were manufactured and sold by Aston Martin and with the way Aston prices are going, any Volante is a sure fire future investment proposition. In particular, this one with it's outstanding fully documented provenance. To summarise this is a wonderful opportunity for the serious invester or collector to purchase one of the last hand built cars made by Aston Martin at a very attractive price.

Part exchange welcome, in particular classic cars from 1930 - 1970

Abarth 1000 TC - Abarth 1000TC Berlina, regist. 08/1963 ,owner Pierre Brunetti * , Historic car which won many races. Registered in Fiscal 6 means that car was delivered as Abarth and not as Fiat 600. In 1988 sold to Pierre Brunetti who drove in 2003 and 2006 the championship against cars like Porsche 911, Camaro, BMW02 and was French Champion. The present owner had been trying to get this car for 5 years. The car is technically perfect. With racing plugs we revved the engine to 8500 rpm . Some people might be astonished that the car has no suezide doors. There are still the holding points viewable, it was changed for racing reasons.

MORGAN 4/4 SERIES 11 'COMPETITION' - Fully restored by it's late owner of more than 40 yrs in the late '80's - this particular example was supplied new via Gravely Hill Service Station, Birmingham to Mr J. Baldwin on September 1st 1959. It is believed that it's 3rd owner replaced the engine with a factory class C engine (issued by Worcester County Council the accompanying buff logbook carries a note of the powerplant change dated May 3rd 1965). Featuring the same components as fitted to the Series II Competition cars (of which only 37 were built), the new 100E unit boasted a finned alloy Aquaplane `Superhead', alloy Aquaplane inlet manifold, Aquaplane exhaust manifold and twin SU carburettors. Acquired by it's late long-term owner during the late 1960s, he set about a full restoration between 1987-9 which included a new factory supplied chassis. Having covered just circa 6,000 miles since it's restoration it's not altogether surprising that it presents well although the chrome bumpers would benefit from a re-plating.
